Wisdom & Pride

On a beautiful morning the student felt the warming sun on his skin, listened to the happy chirping of birds and enjoyed the scent of the fresh clear air when -as if by itself- the words gushed out of him:
“Master I am so proud and grateful that you have taught me CLARITY, how I can change the world!”

“That is good,” the master rejoiced and spoke, “Let this gratitude grow until deep contentment arises, then it will be easy for you to let go of pride.”

“But why should I let go of pride?” asked the student.

“Because then I can finally bring you closer to the WISDOM of changing yourself.
If you change yourself your world will change, according to the old law as within so without.” the master explained smiling and loving.

“But I also want so much to make the world more beautiful for everyone else!” the student replied.

The master nodded in understanding and said: “If even the smallest part of a whole changes, what happens to the whole?”

The student thought for a moment and replied: “The whole is then no longer as it was and what it was, it must change, this is a simple fact.”

“Truly you have become very clever, you can be PROUD of yourself!” smiled mischievously the master.
